Johnson Price Sprinkle PA Shareholder, Rollin Groseclose, participated in the IRS National Taxpayer Advocate Public Forum held on April 4, 2016 in Hendersonville, NC. Rollin was one of four panelist providing input to Nina E. Olson, the National Taxpayer Advocate at the IRS, who hosted the event with Representative Mark Meadows of NC’s 11th Congressional District.
Rollin and the other panelists were asked to speak to their experiences in working with the IRS, particular challenges they might have had and their thoughts on the IRS Future State plan .
Feedback included long durations of telephone hold times, lack of confirmation in resolved issues, lack of information accessible to IRS personnel due to database silos or downed computer systems, greater need for training and staffing due to increased tax complexities, longevity in resolving tax identity theft issues, tax complexities due to ACA, concerns regarding IRS moving to greater reliance on technology considering greater possibilities of security breaches, and, length of time in resolving tax issues and IRS demands during these extended timeframes.
Rollin was joined by Robert H. Wall, tax and corporate law attorney with Spilman Thomas & Battle in Winston-Salem, NC, Robert T. Smith, Jr, volunteer coordinator for AARP-TaxAide in Hendersonville, NC, and, Arthur Bartlett, attorney/director of Low Income Taxpayer Clinic/Legal Services for the Elderly of Southern Piedmont in Charlotte, NC.
