June 11, 2013

Johnson Price Sprinkle PA (JPS) continues to move forward through dedicated service to the accounting profession by providing support to the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA). Five JPS team members currently hold chair positions leading the NCACPA Board of Directors and various committees. Involvement with NCACPA continues to provide opportunities for the JPS team to remain on top of the latest in tax, accounting and business issues that affect local businesses and the economy.

Benjamin (Ben) C. Hamrick, CEO of JPS and CPA, has been named the 2013-2014 Chair of the NCACPA Board of Directors. Ben is a member of the NCACPA since 1986. Prior to being elected as the Chair, Ben served five years on NCACPA’s Board of Directors. He is also the Chair of the Trends Team Strategy Group. Ben has served as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Audit Committee and has had involvement in other committees over the years.

Mary Williams Matthews, JPS Shareholder, VP of Healthcare Services and CPA, is now Chair of NCACPA’s Healthcare Industry Committee. Mary’s experience in the healthcare industry has made this a perfect fit, so much so that this is her second, non-consecutive term as chair, and she has been an active member of the committee since 1996. Mary has been involved with NCACPA as a member since 1992.

J. Scott Hughes, JPS Shareholder, VP of Assurance Services and CPA, is supporting the NCACPA by service on the Peer Review Committee. He has been a member of NCACPA since 1981 and a member of the Peer Review Committee since 2009 currently serving as the Committee’s Chair. Scott has also served on the Governmental Accounting and Auditing Committee.

Rollin J. Groseclose, JPS Shareholder and CPA, has been a member of NCACPA since 1997 and is leading the way as Chair of the Tax Modernization Task Force. The Tax Modernization Task Force is paving the way with the recently released Tar Heel Tax Reform initiative, designed to encourage the modernization of NC tax code and educate the public on the subject. Rollin is also a member of NCACPA’s Board of Directors acting as the Board Liaison Director to the Taxation Committee for which he is the immediate Past Chair and current member.

B. Zachary (Zach) Levin, JPS Audit Associate and CPA, is serving this year as the Vice Chair of the Young CPA Cabinet which brings together a diverse group of CPAs all age 35 and under. Zach has been a member of NCACPA since 2009 and the Young CPA Cabinet since 2012 when he became the liaison to the Western Carolina NCACPA Board of Directors.
