On October 6th, The ARC of Buncombe County celebrated its 60th Anniversary with a well-attended event at the Asheville Event Center. The evening honored individuals and The ARC’s long-standing history of serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Spicer Greene Jewelers generously donated a $6,000 diamond in recognition of The ARC’s diamond anniversary, which was given to a lucky raffle recipient.
Dorinda Bennett, JPS Senior Manager and current President of The ARC of Buncombe County’s Board of Directors, Linda McDaniel, Program Director of The ARC, and Oscar Wong, Founder/Owner of Highland Brewing Company and The ARC Board of Director’s Treasurer, were some of the speakers beckoned on stage by the Master of Ceremony, Jason Boyer.
Gayle Littlejohn was recognized for her service to The ARC of Buncombe County and was presented with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine. Virgil Smith, Senator Terry Van Duyn, Donald Hendricks, Lynne Matheson, Chris Peterson, Darrell Redmond, Joe Silvers and Oscar Wong were also honored during the evening.
