Larry joined JPS as a shareholder on February 1, 2009, as a result of the transition of the Boone office of Dixon Hughes, PLLC – where he was serving as a tax partner – to JPS. He is responsible for the overall tax practice of the Boone office of JPS. Larry’s particular areas of interest and training in the tax practice are pass-through entities (partnerships and S-corporations), real estate taxation and Sec. 1031 exchanges, and physicians’ practices.
He began his accounting career in 1966 while working for a firm in Charlotte, NC. He moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina in 1973 and in 1975, he began his own accounting practice in Boone. In 1998, Larry merged his firm with Crisp, Hughes, Evans, LLP, which subsequently became Dixon Hughes, PLLC.
Larry and his wife, Robin, have four children and eight grandchildren. Any spare time they have when not visiting with grandchildren is spent working in their yard, hiking, enjoying music and making home improvements.
