Elizabeth D. Burleson, CPA

Beth joined the firm in 1986 after graduating from Appalachian State University with a BS in accounting. She became a partner in the firm in 1999.
She received her certification as a CPA in 1989 and later received the CSEP (Certified Specialist in Estate Planning) and the Certificate in Achievement in Governmental Auditing. Additionally, she holds a Series 7 securities license, a Series 66 securities license and a Life and Health Insurance License.
Beth works primarily in the firm's auditing and accounting section, while also devoting significant time to financial services. She has significant experience in governmental and compliance auditing, as well as in performing peer reviews for other CPA firms.
She is a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where she enjoys working in several areas of the children's department and participating in choral productions. She has also served as chairperson of the Finance Committee and as a member of the Nominations Committee.
Beth enjoys spending time with her husband, David, and two daughters, Shannon and Heather. She especially enjoys reading, traveling, and watching her children play sports.
Mickey R. Dale, CPA

As Director of Johnson, Price & Sprinkle's Tax Services group, Mr. Dale is responsible for coordinating the firm's tax services for our clientele. His responsibilities include tax planning and the review of a variety of tax returns with an emphasis in the closely held business and individual areas. Mr. Dale also provides client assistance in the areas of estate and succession planning, health care, real estate, service companies, fringe benefit plans and IRS problem resolution.
Prior to joining the firm in 1988, Mr. Dale began his career in public accounting with a large international accounting firm. After earning his B.S. in Business Administration from Wingate College in 1983, Mr. Dale worked as a field auditor with the North Carolina Department of Revenue for two and a half years before entering the public accounting arena.
Mr. Dale is a member of the Tax Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is also a member of the Tax Committee of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA). Mr. Dale is a member, and past chairman, of the Tax Executive Committee of CPAmerica International. He is also involved in the community and has served on a number of not-for-profit organization boards over the years. Mickey lives in Asheville with his wife Kelly.
Benjamin C. Hamrick, CPA, ABV, CM&A, CVA

Ben joined the firm in 1983 after graduating from Appalachian State University double majoring in accounting and information systems. He became a partner in the firm in 1989.
He received his certification as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in 1986 and later received the ABV (Accredited Business Valuation), the CM&A (Certified in Mergers and Acquisitions) and the CVA (Certified Valuation Analyst) designations.
Ben is a member of the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), the Consulting Division of the AICPA, the NCACPA (North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants), serves on the Litigation Services Committee of NCACPA, IBA (Institute of Business Appraisers), Management Consulting Services Committee of CPAmerica, NACVA (National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts), AMAA (Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors), the NSAC (National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives) and a Candidate member to ASA (American Society of Appraisers).
Ben heads up the business consulting and business valuation services section of the Firm. His primary areas experience are manufacturing, trucking, cooperatives, construction/real estate development, retail/wholesale and professional services.
He is a member of Groce United Methodist Church where he is the Chair of the Finance Committee and Chair of the Endowment Committee. He also serves on the Church Council and has chaired the Stewardship Campaign and served on the Growth Steering Committee. In addition to his involvement with his church, Ben also serves as is a member of the Advisory Committee to the Department of Management and Accounting at the University of North Carolina - Asheville.
Ben enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Jodie and two children, Calli and Coleman. He is also involved in road cycling and is a past President of the Asheville Bicycle Racing Club.
Harold H. (Bud) Hughes, CPA, Tax Partner

Bud is a Tax Partner of the firm. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mars Hill College in 1975 with a BS degree in accounting. He received his certification as a CPA in 1978.
Prior to merging with the firm in June 2004, Bud and his brother Scott owned Hughes, Hughes and Company, PA., Certified Public Accountants, since its founding in 1986. Their firm provided accounting and auditing services to a variety of business, not-for-profit, and individual clients.
Before 1986, Bud was an agent for the Internal Revenue Service; worked in private industry as controller of Shoney's Restaurants of Western North Carolina and East Tennessee; and served as a manager over federal income taxes for Akzona, Inc., (later Akzo-America, Inc.), a Fortune 500 company. While employed at Akzona, he was a member of Tax Executives Institute (TEI).
Bud has extensive experience in business and individual tax planning and preparation. He also works in the areas of estate and succession planning, estate and fiduciary tax return preparation, and issues with the Internal Revenue Service.
Bud is presently a member of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and treasurer of Asheville-Buncombe Community Christian Ministry. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Asheville, where he is a deacon, a member of the choir, and chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee. He is a member of the Mars Hill College Business Honor Club Alumni Association and a former member of its Board of Directors. He was also president and a former member of the Asheville City Schools Foundation Board of Directors and a former board member and assistant treasurer of Daniel Boone Boy Scout Council. While working at Akzona, he was a loaned executive to the United Way campaign.
Bud enjoys playing golf and traveling. This past summer he was part of a group of First Baptist choir members who spent two weeks volunteering for Habitat for Humanity on a "Sing and Build" trip to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Every two years, he joins the youth from First Baptist on a mission trip to Pippa Passes, Kentucky, where they do repairs and construction, as well as offer activities for the many children who live there.
Bud is married to the former Dianne Broadway, and they are the parents of two adult daughters. Shanna, a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne, is an occupational therapist. She is married and lives with her husband, Brandon, a youth minister, near Charleston, West Virginia. Lindsay, a graduate of Catawba, lives in Cary, North Carolina, and is a first grade teacher. Bud and Dianne became grandparents as well as celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in 2005.
J. Scott Hughes, CPA, Audit Partner

Scott is an Audit Partner of the firm. He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Mars Hill College with a BS degree in accounting. He received his certification in 1981 and has served on various committees of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, including the Governmental Auditing and Accounting Committee. He taught a continuing professional education course for the NCACPA on Audits of School Administrative Units.
Prior to merging with the firm in June 2004, Scott and his brother Bud owned Hughes, Hughes and Company, PA, Certified Public Accountants, from 1986 until the merger, and provided accounting and auditing services to a variety of business, not-for-profit and individual clients. He has attended a significant amount of continuing professional education in the governmental accounting field, including various courses offered by the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Asheville where he enjoys teaching youth and participating in various music and choral activities. He currently serves as chairperson of a multi-million dollar renovation project of the church. He also participates in a number of community non-profit Boards including the First Step Farms of Western North Carolina, the Asheville-Buncombe Vision and the Grove Arcade Public Market Foundation.
Scott enjoys singing, playing golf and spending time with his wife, Linda, and their daughter, Megan and son, Jeffrey.
R. Leslie Johnson, CPA

Leslie started his career at Peat Marwick & Mitchell in Charlotte, NC after graduating from UNC-CH in 1967 with a major in accounting. He has been with Johnson, Price & Sprinkle, P.A. since 1973, and became a partner in 1977.
Leslie has served professionally in many capacities. He is currently serving on the AICPA Peer Review Board and the NCACPA Peer Review Committee. He teaches for the profession, and has earned the distinguished discussion leader award in each of the last eight years.
Leslie serves the firm in the area of accounting and auditing, personal income tax, personal financial planning, and peer review.
He enjoys sports, history (especially Williamsburg, Virginia) and travel. He spends as much time as possible with his wife Robin. They share six children and three, wouldn't you guess, adorable grandchildren.
Mary P. Williams, CPA

Mary joined the firm in 1993, concentrating in the areas of assurance services and consulting
Mary also provides income tax and financial consulting services to a variety of individuals and corporations. Her industry experience includes health care, professional services, tax exempt organizations and agriculture.
Employee benefits is another area of expertise. Mary directs assurance and tax and consulting engagements for a variety of defined contribution, defined benefit, ESOP and employee benefit plans. She has made numerous presentations on the subject of employee benefits to regional industry groups.
In the community, Mary serves on the Foundation Board of Directors for Park Ridge Hospital and is active in her church. In her spare time, she enjoys boating, gardening and recreational distance running.
